Soy Food Program

Soy has been used all over the world to improve the diets and nutrition of undernourished people. WIA make soy food and soy milk once a week to feed themselves and their children. Soy food and milk is also prepared twice a month for sale to the outer community. The program has helped improve nutrition for WIA families and promoted the use of soy in the community.

Gourd Art Cooperative

WIA are creating beautiful hand-carved gourd that combine the traditional gourd art carving with ornamental, weaved banana tree leaves. The artwork is sold to customers in the US and the profits given to the artists. The sales provide important supplemental income for the women.

Community Store

WIA are running a community store that sells used clothing and sneakers and school supplies at low cost. The store provides essential items to WIA and their families and the wider community.

Library and Computer Room

The WIA center includes a library and computer room. The library contains children's books, reference books and novels, as well as games, puzzles and sports equipment. The computer room includes 4 computers and a printer. Both facilities are used by sponsored children in primary and secondary school and by WIA members attending adult education classes.

Educational Sponsorship Program

Donors from the US and UK provide monthly sponsorship for children and WIA members for their education. Sponsorship covers all education costs for children, including school uniforms and shoes, book bag, school supplies, and monthly tuition/fees. Sponsorship for WIA covers school supplies, adult education teacher salary, and a weekly computer course.

Micro-lending project

WIA are receiving small loans for their micro-businesses which allow them to become economically independent. The no interest loans help women grow their business or start new ones.
